How Fabric Printing Works
From your first design brief to printed fabric. Understand artwork preparation, fabric selection, sampling and production before planning your B2B order with MD Digital Fabric Printing.

FIVE CLEAR STAGES
A better brief. A clearer print process.
For fashion collections, textile yardage, garment panels and furnishing projects, each stage connects your design to the intended fabric and application.

Share your print brief
Tell us the fabric composition, intended use, quantity, printable width, destination and timing. Share your artwork or a visual reference, and specify a repeat, border or placement print.
Your starting point: material + design + quantity.
Send your brief - 02
Match the fabric and method
The printing route depends on the substrate, design detail, colour goals, hand feel and production scale. Material suitability is reviewed before quotation; a method suitable for one fabric may not suit another.
Decision to confirm: fabric compatibility and print requirements.
Compare printing methods - 03
Prepare artwork and sample
Share TIFF or PDF artwork at 300 DPI in RGB with the intended width × height where possible. Check repeat alignment, border dimensions and placement measurements before sampling. File requirements are confirmed for the selected process.
Keep one clearly named, current artwork revision.
Read artwork guidelines - 04
Review and approve
A sample or strike-off helps you review print scale, colour and finish on the intended fabric. Discuss revisions before approving the artwork, material and production details. Sampling terms depend on the method and brief.
Approval checkpoint: design + material + sample + commercial terms.
Explore sampling - 05
Print, inspect and arrange dispatch
Production starts after the agreed details are confirmed. Finished fabric or garment graphics are inspected against the brief, then packing, delivery address and dispatch arrangements are confirmed for the order.
For repeat orders, retain the approved sample and specification.

Know what comes next.
Practical answers for planning a fabric printing project.
Why sample before fabric production?
A sample or strike-off lets you review the design on the intended material. Screen colours alone do not show the final fabric colour, scale or finish. Sampling availability and terms are confirmed for your printing method.
What artwork should I send?
Send the latest TIFF or PDF artwork with intended print dimensions. For fabric printing, 300 DPI RGB artwork is a useful starting point; confirm the final file requirements for your selected process. Include repeat, border or placement measurements.
Can I start with a reference instead of a finished file?
Yes, share the reference with your fabric and quantity details. We can discuss what is needed before the artwork is ready for sampling. A reference image is a starting point, so the final print file still needs to be confirmed.
How long will my order take?
Timing depends on the fabric, printing method, artwork readiness, sampling, quantity and delivery destination. Share your target date with the brief so the project schedule can be discussed before confirmation.
What should I keep for a repeat order?
Keep the approved artwork revision, fabric specification, sample reference, design and colourway quantities, packing instructions and delivery details together. Any material or design changes should be reviewed before another production run.
Have a design in mind?
Share the fabric, artwork and quantity. Let’s discuss the next step.
